30 days of night
A number of my friends have been circulating this meme and I've been playing with the idea of doing it in an effort to get myself writing on a more regular basis than I have been.
So, I think I finally decided to do it. If this peters off somewhere around the second week, don't blame me. I have the attention span of an addled fruit fly at the best of times, and the motivation of a three-toed sloth.
01 - Introduction
My name is Tara and I'll be 36 in October, which seems very strange to me. I live ten minutes outside of Philadelphia, in New Jersey, with my boyfriend of the past nine years (The Engineer, and we've only been living together for a little over a year). We have two cats (Henry Lee and Timothy) and four snakes (Damballah, Betelgeuse, Aristotle, and Mrs. Robinson). For the past six years, I have been working in the Human Resources department of a privately run abortion provider with many offices in several states. This past Wednesday, I finally started funeral school, after talking about it for longer than I care to remember.
I've been diagnosed with trichotillomania and am schizoeffective with hypo-manic episodes. I go through periods of depersonalization (which I'm beginning to believe is actually depersonalization disorder due to its recurrence and effect on my daily functions) and struggle with a variety of ritual-based OCD issues. I self medicate and am not in any type of therapy. Part of this is due to not having any health insurance, but a significant contributor is also the fact that I am mildly phobic of being seen by a doctor.
As made evident by the horde of books and movies in my apartment, I have a serious book and film jones. I largely enjoy horror-types of entertainment, but am open to basically every other form. I liked zombies before zombies were cool. Music also is a large part of my life and I can be profoundly effected by certain pieces, to the point of being nigh on overwhelmed.
I have sixteen tattoos and eight piercings, drive a Mini Cooper named Miss Mary Margaret, and been obsessed with cooking for the past ten years. I'm fat and no longer think there's anything wrong with that particular state of being.
I don't drink coffee or red wine, smoke far too many cigarettes, and hate water chestnuts with a fiery passion which rivals that of a thousand suns (the texture freaks me out). Many people consider me to be pagan, as I have been a vodouissant for almost ten years, but many would also not. My knee tells me when rain is coming and I love great white sharks.
I think anything else will get covered in the next 30 days?
