Hey Cavalorn!
Being that you've got the biggest occult brain of anyone I currently know, what do you think about the concept of 'Satanic Wicca'?
I, and the Engineer, have currently beenarguing debating about this with someone in one of the LJ communities. And I'd like to hear your opinion.

Seriously, though...
Wicca is nothing more than an absolutely artificial, absolutely modern construct that both attempts to identify 'witchcraft' with primaeval pagan religion (an unsupported anthropological theory) and claims to represent a surviving strain of said witchcraft, a claim which has no foundation whatsoever. Satanic Wicca is therefore patently ridiculous, as Wicca is based upon faux-naif ideas of a 'horned god' and 'great mother'. These are, of course, just so much post-industrial nostalgia based on hearkening after something primal and natural, exactly like the tendency for Victorian spiritualists to produce Red Indian spirit guides.
Satanic Witchcraft, on the other hand, would at least have the distinction of resembling witchcraft as it was said to be; Wicca does not even do that. The prevailing myth that witches did not 'really' worship Satan, that they were 'really' worshipping the Horned God who is all nice and long-haired and feisty (and suspiciously close to an earth mother hippie's idea of the perfect male) is just so much Wiccan revisionism. Nobody can tell whether there even were genuine witches or what they may have worshipped, if anything; but at least a satanic witch is true to the historical myth, rather than buying into the sweetness-and-light Wicca hoax.
