(no subject)

I think I'm about ready to break up with blue-black hair dye. Again.

For some reason, ever since the nuclear red fiasco some months back, black dye has not been a visitor in my hair for very long. When it's freshly done, it's gorgeous and shiny and blacker then black black. I wash it one or two times (and I only wash my hair about once every week or so) and it begins to fade to this noxious greenish-brownish colour on the ends. Hideous.

Couple that with the never-ending parade of grey hair slowly creeping through the frontlines and you make for an extremely unhappy Tara.

I've been contemplating going back to red, but that would involve a serious round of bleaching. My body is weary of bleach and toner and one red dye, then another red over top of it. I refuse to allow my hair to go back to its natural state, either. They don't make my natural shade in dye, and for a good reason: it looks like ass on the half shell. Something which I've attempted to explain to my father since I was fifteen and just starting to experiment with hair colour. He never understood this and every single time I change it, he asks why I won't just dye it back to its original colour. Dishwater blonde. Horrifying. He thinks its rather pretty, but considering that particular statement comes from a man who performs self-dentistry, I'll have to pass on it.

This never-ending struggle to keep my hair black is growing tiresome.

When I get paid next week, I reckon I'll be shelling out the money at the beauty supply store to make with the pretty. It also wants cutting, so Angel will be enlisted for some mid-afternoon hair styling on the sly in the office.

hrm.

i suspect the previous strippage is the cause of your greenish-brown unhappiness. Having never stripped my own hair, I cannot speak from experience. I have, however, witnessed an awful lot of haircolor weirdness/fiascos on the heads of my co-conspirators. You might have the yecch until all the old stripped hair grows out.

also, I might be getting back together with henna. black creme or red powder, I haven't decided. My natural color is decent enouhg until it gets sun-bleached. feh. i join you in shaking fists at natural hair colors.

*shakes fist*

New formula Herbal Essences bleach kit.

It got me something like 80% bloned, 15% pink, 5% red. And I pussed out, because I knew I was doing red over it -- it was like 7 minutes, tops. Never saw bleach like it, and my hair is not that bad off for it.

Highly recommended. The box looks different from the usual -- if you can't find it [I found it in Wal-Mart], I will send you a box tomorrow.

eeeyup.
blue black & i broke up several months ago & ive never been happier.
i wanted to go red too but didnt have the money or skill to do my whole
head so i waited till i had a somewhat decent (but not too hideous) amount
of brown & grey roots & then just slapped on a beautiful deep red over those.
(garnier something. if you wanna know, ill be glad to look it up for you).
i didnt know if id like it but it really looks nice! kinda like flame-ish roots.
i like it so much, im going to keep doing it! in fact, i just touched it up last night.
:D

I have the same problems with my ends too -its made me wonder if I should switch as well but a stylist friend said that one thing that can help is putting the blue black dye on and then getting a blue black cellophane put over it to lock in the color -I think I shall try this next time since I really love the color but I too, hate thos greenish brown "swamp ends"!!!

Oi! I think the blue-black suits you, either that or that purply or darkdark red color you sported a bit ago. There are shampoos that are specifically for colored hair, even ones that go so specific as to be for blonde/red/dark, whatever hue you happen to be sporting. Your skin tone really isn't right for that red you had honey, it makes you look jaundiced. Maybe changing something ELSE in your life besides your hair color would be a better choice, PLUS choosing some products that are kinder to your hair after all the harsh treatment it's been through in recent memory. And if you want to talk nasty colored hair, you should see MY natural color, mousy brown with gray streaking it's way through...truly nasty. I'm forever thankful for Louis.

I'm seriously getting the itch to fuck with my hair again too.
Still thinking about going calico.
Since I'm working from home I'm no so worried.
Wondering if I should wait until after the wedding though.

Anyway, what is it you use to strip the black?
