I went to the Philadelphia tattoo convention this weekend with Miss Robin, The Amazing Larry, Rowan, and Ellis (the Engineer was not in attendence). And it did absolutely nothing but further cement the fact that I NEED to get my present tattoos finished.

That means my left arm (Scary Godmother) needs to start getting worked on again. I'm really rather tired of seeing these three big pieces, which are meant to be pieced together, just free form floating in negative space. It looks stupid. It needs to be finished. I need to contact the artist who originally worked on this and see what kind of pricing he throws at me. I'm basically going to let him have free reign on the background and suchlike, as I trust his judgement (and style!) utterly.

This also means that I need to get the bats on my chest finished. I've been tossing around the idea of also getting a banner strung between the two of them (there's one big bat on either side of my chest, around my collarbone/shoulder area), trad style. I've kicked around various different things for the banner to say, but I haven't entirely settled on one yet. It's a rather big decision, especially as this is be a particularly visible area of my body. A big commitment, I would reckon.

I'm also thinking of maybe seeing if the actual colour of the bats could be tweaked a bit. Can a different colour be inked over a pre-existing colour without it looking like ass? Mister Fred, I assume you have knowledge of such things. Any answers for me? And would you be willing to do this?

My tattoos used to be a representation of the control I had over my life, over my body. I was robbed of this control a long time ago and I started to get inked in an effort to reclaim it. Over the past year, numerous things have spiraled out of my hands and I think that this would be an ideal way of bringing things back into my court. Sympathic magick.

I haven't been tattooed in over a year and stepping onto the vendor floor at the convention sent me into a tailspin. As soon as I heard all the buzzing of numerous machines at work, my palms started to sweat and my skin itched.

It's been far too long.

Ultimately, I have to wait until I have a job to be able to pay for the work I want done. But, I can plan it all out now in anticipation of it.
