Jul. 5th, 2004 03:20 pmYesterday and last night went rather well, if you ask me. Despite some small and unrelated to my life drama between some of the party attendees, I made about three hundred dollars. It's not much, but it'll pay a month's worth of my mother's share of the rent and maybe a bill or two. Not bad.
I walked around barefoot the entire day, with my hair in braids, like a five year old child. A scabbed knee, healing slowly, and blue stars stuck to my face and hands.
At the end of the night, Stef and I toasted our friendship and the success of the day with the remaining juice from a tequila-spiked watermelon, drank from multi-coloured plastic cups. Cloyingly sweet fruit mixing with bitter, burning liquor. Lighting the back of my throat on fire, I stared at the stars and felt how much I was loved. Later, I ran around the backyard in the rain extinguishing torches.
Thank you to everyone who was able to make it.
I am forever in your debt for the help and support you've given.
