Aug. 12th, 2006 01:41 pmToday was my placement test for college.
hee.
I got there just before the cut-off time (once again, my absolutely subpar sense of direction got me screwed up on a road that I have driven down roughly two billion times in the past year), but coasted in just before. They batted me back and forth between two rooms for a little bit, due to computer issues, so I wound up actually sitting down to take the rest about ten minutes after ten.
And I finished at about ten minutes after eleven. On a test that they suggest one gives oneself two and a half to three hours to take. I completely tested out of having to write any essays, which I had worried about because I'm not so good at writing on command and would have only had fifteen minutes to complete each essay needing to be written. When I got to the end of the test, it didn't shoot me into the essay section, so I raised my hand and asked the facilitator what was going on. She came over, looked at my scores, blinked a few times, and looked again. Told me I tested out and I started squeeing at her, with joy.
My scores, for those curious, are as follows:
Reading Comprehension: 116
Sentence Skills: 109
Arithmetic: 82
Elementary Algebra: 33
You'll notice a bit of a discrepancy between how good I am at reading/writing and how talented I am not in mathmatics. Apparently, I am Stephen Hawkings when it comes to the written word, and Corky from Life Goes On when it comes to numbers. I'm ok with this, I reckon. My only issue is that I will probably have to take remedial math and that will set me back a bit because it's non-credit. No huge deal, it'll be good to actually get this stuff under my belt so I can stop drawing little pictures on my scratch paper to illustrate math concepts to myself (yes, I actually do this).
Monday, I'll be heading to registration.
I'm still a little in shock that this is finally happening.
