I received a phone call this evening from my friend, Jack (from AG infam...err, fame). Which was at turns entertaining and sad. He's having a bit of a rough time as of late, which is more than understandable. And I did my best in letting him vent a little and even laugh some.

After I hung up, I raced to get dressed and do a few chore-like activities. Late for the weekly bookstore meeting with The Priest They Called Him and The Engineer. Arriving at Borders at just shy of ten o'clock, I made a grand attempt at making it appear as if I had been late on purpose. ;)

A brief moment of a tilted, skewed perception set me back. I can't stand it when I get those moments of unreality, like I'm moving through a dream. Slowly, moving through heavy syrup. Looking at people stung me, so I raced away to the book finder computer in an attempt to locate the new China Mieville novel.

However just as my fingers touched the keys, an employee announced that the store was indeed closed. *sigh* I reckon it was fate telling me that it would have been a bad idea to write one of those funny checks that my mother talks about so much. I suppose I'll stop by the store at some point tomorrow, after having received my gubmint check, and make another pass at buying that elusive book.

We were buttonholed briefly by a friend, Kyle, outside the store. Kyle, you see, knows a lot about movies. And talks a lot about movies. As a matter of fact, I don't think I've ever had one single conversation with Kyle that WASN'T about movies.

No, that's a lie. Once, we had a conversation about Shonen Knife. Which didn't last very long and segued into a debate about horror movies. Kyle's grand, though. Even if I don't see him around very much.

The diner came after the bookstore, where we all kind of yawned at each other as the three of us were extremely tired. TPTCH had had a long night. And The Engineer has to be up earlier, as he has volunteered to come in on his day off tomorrow to do some work on the World War II memorial that his foundry has been working on.

TPTCH talked about his new beau for a bit, which always makes me smile. I love seeing him so very happy, for once. The last boy was more than a bit of a trial. And frequently, hanging out with that boy usually ended in one form of an arguement or another. I haven't decided on a sekrity journal name for the new beau yet, however. Hopefully, one will come to me soon.

I'm in great need of a bath. My hair, which doesn't behave on even the best of days, has decided to make an attempt at strangling me. My original plans involved taking a long scented bath with a lot of bubbles whilst reading the new Mieville, but that's not happening tonight. A raincheck on that. I'll have to find another book to bring as a substitute pitcher.

My head's aching a bit, which I think is from the sinus problems I've been having lately. I spent a large portion of this afternoon and evening sneezing my fool brain out. And being extremely sniffly. Here's to hoping that it's not actually an illness, which would be bad as my mother can't be around too many germs in her condition. If it's a cold or the like, I'll wind up being quarentined in my bedroom. And that'll surely drive me around the bend.

YOU spend hours in a room that's 3 x 12 and see how you like it. hmph.
