Jul. 31st, 2003 02:55 pmLast night (or rather early this morning, as the case may be), I decided that it was time to start going through the process of looking for another job. Lying in bed, attempting to plow my way through another bout of insomnia, I also decided that I was mightily sick of working in the mortgage industry and want to go back to bookstore management.
I was happy working for Tower Books, most of the time. Even when the store flooded and we had to bail out the kids' section. Even when I was throwing out creepy old men with their pants falling down. Even when I was hollaring at drunken spillovers from the Mardi Gras celebration going on at the bar two doors down. I liked the job. I liked being around books.
So when I got this morning, I logged into that bitchgoddess Monster.com and started looking around. There's an opening for a management position at the Waldenbooks in Cherry Hill, so I applied for that. The ad was only a couple of days old, hopefully it's still open.
Though I wonder if I can actually do this. It's been a long time and I was only an assistant manager. But, I'll never know if I don't try blah blah blah.
This doesn't mean I've stopped looking in the mortgage business for positions. It's easy and stupid money, though I hate it with every ounce of my being. The money is (usually) good and the market is always open, with the way interest rates are currently.
I also wonder how much of this is also due to me missing Philadelphia and being on my own. Tower was a rather special place and that was largely because of the people who worked there. Especially Thee Pumpkin Girly and Blue Moon Baby.
My tea's gone cold. ick.
Back to the ads.

(Like, it's not "way too much!" instead of "eh, not very much.") Proooobably not much more responsibility than what you had to deal with as an assistant at Tower.
Also, books are cool. Being around lots of books is even cooler. And by cool, I mean totally sweet.
