When one wishes to communicate that they are hestitating over something because of being unsure of it or afraid of it, the word that one uses is 'leary'. Not 'weary'.

ENGLISH, MOTHERFUCKER. DO YOU SPEAK IT?!

argh.
hatehatehate

Also, while I'm on the subject. When an animal is flighty and shy and startles at small sounds, it is 'SKITTISH' not 'SKIDDISH'.

FOR FUCK'S SAKE!!

I hate the internet.

heh.
I thought it was spelled "leery", so I looked it up on dictionary.com. Here's the 2 entries:
leer·y
adj. leer·i·er, leer·i·est

Suspicious or distrustful; wary: was leery of aggressive salespeople.

leeri·ly adv.
leeri·ness n.

leery
adj : openly distrustful and unwilling to confide [syn: mistrustful, suspicious, untrusting, wary]

Here are the enties for "wary".
war·y
adj. war·i·er, war·i·est

1. On guard; watchful: taught to be wary of strangers.
2. Characterized by caution: a wary glance at the black clouds.

Middle English ware, from Old English wær.
wari·ly adv.
wari·ness n.

wary

e \War"ye\, v. t. [AS. wergian, wyrgean. Cf. Worry.] To curse; to curse; to execrate; to condemn; also, to vex. [Obs.] [Spelled also warrie, warry, and wary.] ``Whom I thus blame and warye.'' --Chaucer.

(woo, Chaucer. you're right, is antiquated use.)

wary

\Wa"ry\, a. [Compar. Warier; superl. Wariest.] [OE. war, AS. w[ae]r; akin to Icel. v?rr, Dan. & Sw. var, Goth. wars, G. gewahr aware, OHG. wara notice, attention, Gr. ? to see. Cf. Aware, Garment, Garnish, Garrison, Panorama, Ward, v. t. Ware, a., Warren.] 1. Cautious of danger; carefully watching and guarding against deception, artifices, and dangers; timorously or suspiciously prudent; circumspect; scrupulous; careful. ``Bear a wary eye.'' --Shak.
We should be wary, therefore, what persecution we raise against the living labors of public men. --Milton.
2. Characterized by caution; guarded; careful.
It behoveth our words to be wary and few. --Hooker.
Syn: Cautious; circumspect; watchful. See Cautious.

wary

adj 1: marked by keen caution and watchful prudence; "they were wary in their movements"; "a wary glance at the black clouds"; "taught to be wary of strangers" [ant: unwary] 2: openly distrustful and unwilling to confide [syn: leery, mistrustful, suspicious, untrusting]

So, since we have this MAGNIFICENT tool of analrifficness that is dictionary.com right here on the internet, why do the morons not use it? Is easier to write " OMFG LERNING TO SPEL N RITE IS TEH sux0r LOLOLOLOL111111LOL!" , i suppose, than it is to look something up. *shrug*

feel my pain, i work with ppl who thing that saying "I gots mines" to 3 year olds is perfectly okay.

also, are ya home? send me an email or pop onto aim & then i can give you a call, as I am home with the Cooties Of Doom today.

It's both, it would appear. Though the way I always spelled it seems to be the archaic way. hrmph.

urrrrf.
I dig. Also included in that is when people add an 's' to the end of names where it does not belong, specifically the names of stores. Like Barnes and Nobles? ARGHARGHARGHARGH. That makes me want to get stabby. IT DOES NOT HAVE A SECOND S, GODDAMNIT.

I get that all the time when I write "wholistic" (or some variant thereof).. spellcheck and it comes up wrong, jump on M-W.com and remind myself the only way it looks right to me is the archaic spelling.
