what the blithering fuck.
May. 16th, 2004 06:43 pmMom was taken to the hospital early this afternoon because she couldn't walk.
Immense amounts of pain in her left leg.
I'm leaving for the hospital momentarily.
More later.

Date: 2004-05-17 08:53 pm (UTC)Yeah, I briefly spoke to one today at the hospital and she was briefed about our ongoing situation. Hopefully, something good will come out of that.
I didn't know anything about any sort of emergency Medicaid, so that is extremely helpful right now.
you need to get power of attorney for your mom ASAP.
I KNEW there was something big I was forgetting last week! That's one of the things that I had wanted to talk to my mom about, before this bone breaking incident. Thank you for reminding me.
it's probably not worth bothering with the trust business unless your mom has significant assets (own a house, investments, etc) but you still might want to talk to a lawyer and get a legal opinion on it.
hrrm. My mom doesn't really own anything big. She has a car, but it was absorbed into her bankruptcy that was declared last year. Everything else is considered piddling by most people's standards. It would probably still benefit us to talk to something legal, though. Just for security.
also, if your mom does not already have a living will, she should make one. if she decides that she does not want extreme measures taken, and she's not going to try and do the chemo, you need to get your doctor to give you a referral for hospice. he/she can do that while your mom is still in the hospital - she just needs to ask him for it. hospice will come in and take care of her at home.
Yeah, she's got a living will. That was all done in 2002, when this first started happening. The hospital was given a couple of it today. The last she and I discussed it, she still wanted to try for the chemo. So, I'm not sure if it's time for hospice just yet.
Thank you so much for all of your help. And please thank your mother for me, also.
