Not quite as plaguey, but I am heavily doped up on Day-Quil right now. AND at work, which is a slight improvement on yesterday. However, I don't think I'll be venturing to the hospital to visit my mom as it's probably not the best of ideas to expose her to my plague germs.

Two days off from work was enough for me. I truly can't stand being cooped up in the house, especially when my car is sitting outside. Taunting me. Flaunting its mobility.

I did, however, get a bit of knitting done. A weekend trip to AC Moore gave me a bit of the yarn bug back. They've gotten in a ton of new yarns, and nice ones to boot! All of this made me decide to make my OWN scarf. One for ME.

Yes, I have done this before.
No, I never finished it.

I worked on this new scarf for the past two days, here and there. But, I'm beginning to believe admit that knitting is just not for me. I don't have the patience for such a slow result. It's a rather nice meditative practice, but I can't comprehend doing it for hours and hours. I am unable to quiet myself for that amount of time to be truly successful at it. I have the same exact problem with meditation.

Furthermore, I simply itch to read while doing it (which is the same problem I have with sewing, though I'm much more successful at sewing then knitting- I'm actually quite snazzy at sewing). Which is just purely impossible for someone with zero coordination, like myself. I would also need a small Guatamalen boy to hold up whatever book I was reading and turn the pages. He could also bring me a diet Coke whenever I wished.

I do enjoy buying new yarns and knitting paraphernalia. Tactile. One of the new skeins I bought is heavenly. I want to take a thousand of them, make a bed, and roll around in it for a few hours.

At any rate, I'm being bid to smoke.
My co-workers are such a bad influence on me. ;)

I suck ass at knitting -but I am a whiz at crochet -knitting I look seriously simple -like I have no idea which is thread and which is needle -but I have also found crochet effortless -my old roommate would do it in the movie theater -I have no idea how she could see a damn thing but apparently she was so good she didn't need to.

Get better soon widgit!!! xoxoxo

heh. i swear, the only reason i get anywhere with knitting is the fact that i have a two-hour train commute every day. it's kind of nice to have something to show for that time, and people are curiously loathe to interrupt me unless they have something genuine to say. which is nice. i kind of like talking to strangers, as long as they're actually talking and not just flapping their cooter lips in the breeze.

but, yeh. damned yarn. [shakes fist] why are you so tempting? why do you tie up all my spare change in 'future projects' neatly tied up with a pattern and never seen again.

me, i'm going to try taking up weaving, hopefully before the end of the year. it takes as much patience and yarn, but the results are so much faster. plus if you get a standing loom you can prop up a book or watch anime or something.

(i'm thisclose to being finished with the shawl. okay, maybe this< -- >close. it should take about a week from today. i'll tap you for a whereto when it's done.)

Knitting's lame. You should do something a little bit more hardcore like whittlin'. You need a rocking chair and a porch first but whittlin's the wave of the future and it'll be good practice for when we're all old and hanging out in front of the general store.

Crochet may be a little more up your alley.

it tends to move a little quicker than knitting, and well, there is just one hook.

And I concur.. the Yarns they have been comining out with are dreamy. I smite them all.

I've tried to crochet.
It's evil and I hate it.

You're actually suggesting that I be given a sharp object?

Some stranger coversations are good.

I had one on Sunday with an old man in a hospital parking lot. He made me laugh quite a lot and then thanked me for smiling at him.

Hey, better you than me ;) I'm just gonna buy me a corn cob pipe and perfect my rocking chair skills and get used to saying "A-yup" a lot
