prayers for rain
Aug. 2nd, 2002 02:19 amComing out of my apartment this evening, en route to the bookstore, I was completely stopped in my tracks by the colour of the air around me.
It was orange...ish. Flat and unsettling, like there had been a fine red dust spread throughout the atmosphere. I stepped out of the doorway and looked around.
The sky was flat and surreal. A Van Gogh painting before my very eyes. Orange and red and pink and grey and blue. They all swirled together with white clouds streaking through. An opal of a sky.
what is this? biochemical warfare? the earth passing through the tail of a comet? should i just go back in the house where it could be construed as being safe?
Despite the wind that picked my hair up from my shoulders, dancing it in my face, the air felt heavy. As if a thousand storms were on their way and they were all heading right for me.
I whispered a prayer and got in the car, marvelling all the while.
Strange to me then, after coming home much later that Miss Carrie had also written an entry about the state of the sky. Hundreds of miles away and she sees basically the same thing.
