hooray for work bullshit!
Aug. 16th, 2007 12:51 amWell, it looks like our overtime has gotten cut at work again. Lovely.
The company is in a severe financial crisis (the worst I've ever seen it in the time I've been there) and in an attempt to not lay people off, the entire administrative staff is no longer authorized to work overtime for the next couple of payrolls. This is despite the fact that the majority of us, when we were hired, had our wages based on a fifty-hour work week.
This happened last year as well, but we were told that those of us who needed it could get special permission to work overtime if necessary. Needless to say, after a handful of weeks, most of the admin had that permission, with the exception of roughly three people (me being one of them). Grabby entitlement twats.
This time, I actually sassed the CEO about it when he was making the announcement. So, does this mean the ENTIRE admin staff? Or is it going to be like last time when it only wound up being a couple of us who couldn't work ot?
He got twitchy and told me that this was going to be "fair and across the board". Yeah, we'll see.
All of this, of course, brought on the same pissing and moaning from certain members of the staff about how unfair this was to us and how the salary people weren't being touched by this.
Personally, I don't give a damn about who is effected by this. Sure, it sucks in a mighty way and I'll definitely be scraping by until things change again, but I would rather have a paycheck that CASHES than a pissant unemployment check or no paycheck at all.
I'm going to whale on Careerbuilder this weekend and put out a metric tonne of resumes to places.
