Well, I decided to give it my best shot and see how things panned out, so I went into the interview as shiny, happy Tara (I DID, TOO!).

That was an extraordinary waste of my time.

Generally, when someone refuses to shake one's hand, it is not an especially good sign.

Send their supervisor a note rescinding your desire to work there based on the rudeness of said interviewer.

THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN STAFFING AGENCIES EXIST.

that sucks!

I know you hate Philly and all...but you might get more action, with a more liberal company over here...we don't care about hair color, tats and stuff like that...

While I'm sure you gave it your best shot, I'm sure they could smell the liberal on you...here, they smell it and don't care...as long as you can do your job....

I've got the distance-willing-to-travel thingie on Careerbuilder set to 25 miles. :/

And I don't hate Philly, per se. I'm just not all that keen on working there. There'd be no where to park my car and I'd have to pay city tax on my wages. I haven't ruled out working over the bridge, though. I'd just complain heartily about it, every chance I got. ;)

But

You'd be complaining in Philly, and that's what counts.

I'd be complaining in Philly, outside of Philly, near Philly. You name it.

And don't think that just because I'd be working in Philly means I'd be spending more time over there, either. I know your ninja wiles well enough to smell a trap!

Hanging out in Fishtown in two thousand degree weather is a trap.

What is this "heat" you are referring to? Is it something that happens outside?

Lissen, working here *is* better. There is more of a likelihood that you can find a company/office/attorney-in-need-of-an-assistant that is wierdo friendly than in the suburban jerzoid sector you choose to nest in. Yeah. What I said.

Contrary to popular belief, I am not only looking for jobs in the surrounding NJ area. I've got a 25 mile distance set on my resume on Careerbuilder and while I wouldn't necessarily like travelling for work, I will do it, if I have to.

That being said, I still don't want to work in the city because of the problems with parking and paying city taxes on my wages. Mostly the paying city taxes. ;P

Nothing's going on with that, for the time being.
I missed fall entry (by many months, apparently), so anything happening with school isn't going to happen until next year.

I am, however, doing legwork to see what I can see about getting some fancy-pants financial aid so that I don't have to work while I'm in school.
