Ok, every other week at work, I have to print out all of the full-time employees' paid time records. This is included with their paycheck. Before, when Angel used to do it, she would include some small message that was appropriate to whatever time of the year it was, but I really can't be bothered to do all that. I did it once, during National Women's History Week, and I never want to do it again. Writing motivational letters is really not my thing. So instead, I've been picking out good quotes to include on the print-out. They vary wildly from week to week and really only have no rhyme or reason to why I picked them.

This week, however, I'm coming up a bit short and I can't settle on a quote. I think it's the weather and the fact that Project Runway is on tonight, I can't concentrate and all I want to do is clock out.

Therefore, I am asking of my friends list: What's your favourite quote? (please include who said it.)

these likely won't work for ya.

This is my email sig:
"Love withers under constraint: its very essence is liberty: it is compatible neither with obedience, jealousy, nor fear: it is there most pure, perfect, and unlimited, where its votaries live in confidence, equality, and unreserve." - Percy Bysshe Shelley

This is the one I use on the forums:
"We all enter this world the same way: naked, screaming, and covered in blood. But if you live your life right, that kind of thing doesn't have to stop there." Dana Gould

Here are some others I like:
“When I dare to be powerful - to use my strength in the service of my vision, then it becomes less and less important whether I am afraid.” Audre Lorde

"Some people wear their heart on their sleeve. I wear mine underneath my right pant leg, strapped to my boot."
Ani DiFranco

"As far as I'm concerned, being any gender is a drag." Patti Smith

"But it does me no injury for my neighbor to say there are twenty gods or no God. It neither picks my pocket nor breaks my leg."
-Thomas Jefferson, Notes on Virginia, 1782

Percy could work. The Dana Gould quote probably wouldn't be good, since it's vaguely about birth and I work for an abortion provider. Audre Lorde's quote could also be good. I'm against Ani DiFranco, just in general (this is an unpopular opinion, I know). The other two quotes, I'm a little unsure of, though I am quite fond of the Jefferson one.

Thanks!

Might I ask why you're against Ani? *is puzzled*

heh. I knew this was coming. ;)

Her music itself is just really not my thing and the uber-rapid fans (like the absolutely batshit insane ones) really chafe my ass.

Much like my feelings on Tori Amos, who I used to actually like (first album, that's it).
