of dirt malls and donuts

thejunipertreeSaturday dawned bright and early with a trip to the dirt mall with Wemble. Dirt malls, hee. These are some of my favorite places on the planet, something which the Engineer just cannot comprehend.
Not a terribly impressive haul this time around, although I did manage to find a Dragula model to go with my Munsters coach, two wee red glass goblets for living room cluttering, a Hot Wheels hearse that I didn't already own, and a dozen fresh apple cider donuts. Wemble and I greedily scarfed down five of them (me eating two and she eating three, the glutton) before they'd even cooled off from the fryer. Holy Mary, mother of mice. Those things were good.
I also managed to come home with a sunburn on my back and chest, where my sweater and t-shirt were not covering. The day had been mostly overcast and slightly chilly and damp, so I figured I didn't need my umbrella for sun-blocking purposes. Little did I know, eh? At one point, Wemble and I were sitting on picnic benches near a Mister Hot Dog truck (hee!) and the sun broke out from behind the clouds. I had my back to it and was greatly enjoying the warmth against my skin as I drank a can of Diet Coke and smoked a cigarette. And I remember thinking to myself, hmm. That feels nice. I could take a nap in this.
Thankfully, I didn't follow through on this thought because who knows how burned I would have gotten! Apparently, after years and years of hiding my skin from the sun, it's become quite delicate. I'll have to invest in some high octane sunblock from now on and cover myself in the junk. My face didn't get burned because my make-up contains sun protection, luckily.
Now the burn has already faded to a slight tan, with much grumbling from me.
Other than the dirt mall and a mild sunburn, this weekend hasn't amounted to much. I learned how to properly fry a sunny-side-up egg, which I could never figure out how before (it's the simple things that baffle me). I've also spent the entire weekend feeling anxious for utterly no reason and it's starting to get on my nerves.
I don't have anything to feel anxious about, so what the hell is up with this? It's bothersome.
Ok. Enough blathering for now.
