I will NOT start shit online.
I have much better things to do. Like search for the perfect image of a crocodile in a top hat and waist coat, holding a pocket watch and a walking stick. I NEED this image. It has been living in my head all weekend and I can't get rid of it. Unfortunately, I can not draw. Not for God or country, love or money.
Other better-things-to-do also involve going outside to smoke another cigarette and listing to O, Superman on my iPod.

Date: 2008-03-25 02:51 am (UTC)and b) I think that Trin will be okay. I think that if kids (and people in general) make their decisions based on their own moral code and not the promise of a reward or fear of punishment, then things would be different. Being raised with my mom, I was exposed to both Catholicism and Islam. I chose neither. The cool thing (aside from me being allowed to follow my own path) is that I finally distilled down all the things that were important to me and made them my own moral code and ethic. I realized that what the religions said and what my mom demonstrated everyday were two different things and I decided to go with what mom did. She said be nice, listen to your gut, try to take the high road, be yourself, take responsibility for your stuff (good or bad) and make shit happen. Being a single parent, you didn't wait around for Jay-eee-sus to do shit for you - you did it yourself or it didn't happen. I think that if you and Trin keep having these conversations and (as she gets older as it's appropriate) talk about why some people have (or use) religion, then she'll get a more rounded view of things. I think that the only thing that I would be concerned about is her having tolerance of others that don't think as you and her think, which is something else that kids learn from their parents.
Heh. I can't wait until the Trin dating years...to be a fly on the wall for her first date. Hahaha...poor kid.

Re: too high to get over...yeah, yeah
Date: 2008-03-25 05:01 am (UTC)When I got this comment notification, it didn't show the YouTube thingy. So, all I see is the "too high to get over...yeah, yeah" and the "WWMJD?"
The first thing I thought was "What Would Michael Jurin Do? Probably start snorting and flailing, then pass out on the effing couch like a wee bitch."
Then, when I saw the actual comment with the video attached? MADE IT EVEN FUNNIER.
