He's not dead! He can't be, damn it! Otherwise we'll get stuck with a whole season like that episode where they had the characters singing between the segments... which was way too weird. BD Wong did a good Tori Amos, tho...

what whaat WHAAAAT! I go and don't watch a show for a couple of episodes due to family matters and this happens! They CAN'T kill him, he was like the moral backbone, the thing that balanced the dark. Sure he wasn't happy but without him the narrative balance of ths story is lost. :( This makes me sad. :(

He was one of the main reasons why I even watched the show. I've always enjoyed that actor, especially as Tybalt in Romeo and Juliet. And you don't find many programs that feature a narrator in the manner that this one does. Most of them are just wank ass voice overs. But, Augustus rocked. Even as just a character, he rocked.
I know he gave the story cohesion, the character was sympathetic. He did bad things, didn't pretend he hadn't but was honestly remorseful and trying to rebuild his life. As for the story he lended it a cohesion that it wouldn't have had otherwise. This is a real shame and I could see my self and many others stopping watching it because of this, simply because it would have lost what made it good.
And yeah he rocked in Romeo And Juliette him and John Leguizamo (sp?)
I honestly don't know if I could continue to watch the show without Harold Perrineau in the ensemble. His narrative monologues are not only brilliantly written but brilliantly delivered. So I've decided that he's just sleeping.
It would be kind of interesting to see other characters rotating through the role of narrator -- perhaps if Hill ends up in a coma, for instance (you see? just sleeping). Could you imagine Schillinger delivering an Augustus Hill-style monologue? Hilarity would ensue, I tell you.
Meanwhile, I'm still miffed that they killed off Adebisi. I may just have to save up for the first season DVD set, which comes out next month...
How am I ever going to make it to Montreal if I continue to buy DVDs? Damn their shiny goodness!
[PS: Spoiler warnings (using the <lj-cut> tag) are friendly and good. I hadn't watched that episode till tonight, but read your post earlier this afternoon.]

heh
Mostly dead, Janette? ;)
I'm grasping for straws, as well. At the end of the episode, I started stuttering "Maybe he just passed out?!"
