Jun. 25th, 2009 12:43 amBeth Ditto is one of the fiercest bitches to ever walk this planet.
Ever, I said.
I've only heard one other song of theirs, but this makes me want to go out and buy every single thing The Gossip has done.
Too bad I wouldn't be able to put it in my goddamn iTunes and put it on my goddamn iPod because my computer is still under my desk, shitting itself and drooling.
Soon.

Date: 2009-06-29 03:44 pm (UTC)I don't find her remotely attractive, but the only time I thought "vile" was in photos where she had what looked like more hair in her armpits than I do on my head. But that's a personal quirk. She would look a bit nicer if she dressed at least somewhat appropriately for her body size -- but that goes for everyone. A really skinny girl in clothes too small looks just as bad as someone her size in clothes too small.
I just called up the Amanda Palmer video... fat? What? Really? She has a nice body, she's skinny. I remember the Britney Spears thing. She wasn't fat, she just wasn't in the shape people associate with her, and she shouldn't have been wearing what she was. Same with the whole Jessica Simpson = fat thing a bit ago. No, she had on horrific pants that removed any sense of a waist and made her look thick.
People forget that what a woman wears REALLY makes a difference, much more so than a man.
I think people should always strive to be happy with their bodies, and if they're not, they should make it so. If Beth Ditto is happy, good for her. But it's almost a bit of "protesting too much," because most people who are genuinely happy don't run around constantly telling people "look at my body! I am happy with my body!" It almost feels like she's trying to convince herself, as well as the world.
But who knows? I have my own body things, and I know you and I don't see eye to eye on a lot of that stuff....
